A patient with a possible Ebola case is currently in isolation and undergoing testing in a Honolulu area hospital, the Hawaii Health Department said Wednesday.

Officials told KHON-TV in Honolulu that Ebola is a possibility, but the patient has yet to be specifically tested for the virus.

Officials would not provide any details about the patient or symptoms, but said the department is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The patient is currently being kept in a regular room and anyone who goes in or out must wear protective gear, officials told KHON.

The department said it was notified of the case Wednesday morning and is still in the early stages of investigation. Officials said there is no cause for public concern at this point.

Two major red flags for Ebola are if the patient has a fever and if he or she has been to West Africa in the past 21 days, officials said. But they would not confirm which factors, if any, apply to the patient.
