Einstein was wrong about LIGO

Description Angle down icon An icon in the shape of an angle pointing down.

When Albert Einstein predicted that two colliding black holes could cause gravitational waves in the fabric of space, he was sure to mention he never thought we'd confirm the elusive waves exist. But he was wrong: we did, in 1974, and now scientists are using a giant laser-based experiment called LIGO to try and observe gravitational waves.
