Facebook is unveiling a new look for News Feed, the personalized stream of updates from friend and brands that forms a core part of the user experience.

It's invited reporters to its campus next Thursday, March 7.

Advertisers and brands will be especially interested in how the News Feed affects the placement and prominence of advertising.

At a recent event, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called News Feed one of "three pillars" of the Facebook experience.

The others were a search tool, Graph Search, which the company unveiled at that January event, and Timeline, the company's design for individual profiles.

Interestingly, Facebook is also experimenting with a new design for Timeline with users in New Zealand, a country which it commonly uses as a testbed. So Facebook is in the midst of conducting a major revamp of pretty much its entire website.
