Aereo, the $12-per-month service that lets you watch live television on your iPad, has been smacked with a lawsuit, reports Paid Content.
Aereo relied on something of a loophole in order to skate under the radar -- it would have a dedicated over-the-air antenna for each subscriber, which he could connect to over the Internet.
But a group of broadcasters, including ABC, PBS, and Univision, aren't on board with it and filed a copyright infringement suit.
Aereo issued a statement in response. It seems to be putting on its money on the following idea:
"Consumers are legally entitled to access broadcast television via an antenna and they are entitled to record television content for their personal use."
Both of these ideas are true, but we'll see how they stand up in court against an army of broadcasting company lawyers.
